True Blue NY Grassroots Coalition Endorses Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress

JACKSON HEIGHTS, NY — Today, the True Blue NY Grassroots Coalition endorsed Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrat for Congress, in New York’s 14th Congressional District primary on June 26.
Ocasio-Cortez is a consistent supporter of the coalition’s vision to elect better Democrats to the state Senate. Jessica Ramos (Queens, district 13) and
Alessandra Biaggi (Bronx, district 34) are both Senate candidates in districts
that overlap with Ocasio-Cortez’s. With today’s announcement, all three women have now been endorsed by the True Blue NY Grassroots Coalition.
“Our movement will succeed because our visions are connected,” said Susan Kang, co-leader of No IDC NY. “Alexandria is the only candidate in NY-14 who embodies the real Democratic values that our group also shares. Her opponent does not.” Ocasio-Cortez’s endorsement follows Rep. Joseph’s Crowley’s indefensible support for the IDC senator José Peralta, who spent the last two years in Ramos’s district supporting Republicans and Republican policies.
“The members of the IDC are about corporate control of the Democratic Party, and that is a big part of what we’re fighting against in Congress as well,” said
Ocasio-Cortez. “In order for us to defeat the regressive influence of dark money in New York state, we must come together to champion progressive candidates on every ballot line in the state. True Blue NY has been doing that since day one — that’s why I am so honored to have their endorsement, and why grassroots candidacies will win in 2018.”
