NYS State Capitol Building
Albany, NY 12224

December 22, 2017

Dear Governor Cuomo:

Stop playing games with New York’s democracy.

After State Senators Diaz Sr. and Latimer vacate their positions on January 1, 2018, I expect you to call for a special election immediately, to be held within 70 days.

I will not accept allowing the constituents of their districts to stay unrepresented for a day longer than necessary.

I will not tolerate allowing the Independent Democratic Conference to control our state’s budget negotiations, and the legislative processes that are linked with them, ever again.

If you cannot manage calling for a special election like a competent executive, and continue to dangle democracy in front of me and other New Yorkers, I will assume that you prefer to have Republicans in control of our legislature.

I cannot support that, and therefore, I cannot support you.

Sincerely,

Your constituent
