FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: EMPIRE STATE INDIVISIBLE ENDORSES TIFFANY CABÁN FOR QUEENS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY

Queens, NY — Today, Empire State Indivisible (ESI) endorsed Tiffany Cabán for Queens County District Attorney.

Tiffany Cabán and Empire State Indivisible share the same progressive goals to engage the community, especially those who are underserved and marginalized, break the grip of the party machine and big donors and fight for equality and justice for all New Yorkers.

From the start, the heart and substance of the Cabán campaign has been her commitment to being a District Attorney for vulnerable communities. Cabán’s goals to implement actionable policy on criminal justice reform, economic inequality, ICE, tenant protections and civil rights align with those of ESI.

“Tiffany Cabán will be a community DA, in the streets with the people of Queens, engaging and doing the business of the DA’s office in a fair, equitable, and just way.” said Empire State member and longtime Forest Hills resident Linda Gerena

Like campaigns ESI has supported in the past, Cabán’s campaign is fueled by small dollar donations and a strong volunteer base. What’s more, with the election of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Congress and two IDC challengers to the NYS Senate last year, with help from progressive activism, Queens is challenging the status quo that has dominated. In short, the diverse voices of Queens are speaking up, showing up and voting.

“There is something special happening in Queens right now — progressive citizens have realized that they have the power at the ballot box to change their communities and candidates who reflect their values are stepping forward to run for office.” says Empire State Indivisible Co-Leader and Long Island City resident Danielle Brecker.

“I am honored to be endorsed today by Empire State Indivisible. Empire State Indivisible is a crucial force for moving politics towards the progressive policies that New Yorkers need. I look forward to working with Empire State Indivisible to create a prosecutor’s office that is accountable to and serves the interests of Queens residents, and to join them in pushing forward a vision to change criminal justice in all of New York City.” said Tiffany Cabán, Queens DA candidate.

Empire State Indivisible is part of the national Indivisible movement and is committed to defend New York against the Trump administration and those who enable its policies. In the 2018 election cycle, Empire State Indivisible hosted town hall meeting events in IDC districts and canvassed for the primary challengers. Six out of the eight members of the conference lost their seat.
